Populate repeating table cell value after button insert

Hello. Sorry (again) if the information for my question is already posted but I am new to Infopath (2007) and the examples I have found in the threads do not solve my issue...

I have a repeating table with a button to insert a new row. Upon clicking the button, the current row is copied into the new row. However, I would like to overwrite a cell value. For example, on the current row is a value "Control 1" in the "Controls" field, when the button is clicked, i would like the "Control" value in the new row to be "Control 2". Below is the code i have:

newRow.InsertAfter(Group);

Ideally i would like to end up with the control number being the current row + 1.

One button for submit and one for save

I want to hide the ribbon, create a submit button on the form (done) and after the submitter clicks the "submit" button, the submit button disappears (done) and the save/update button appears and stays for all future updates to the form (need help with this part)

Hi, here is a problem I can't figure it out.

There are should be two buttons in infopath form. If I click on first - the data goes to the first sharepoint library. If I click second - the data goes to second sharepoint library.

But every time I change settings in one of the buttons it automaticly changes it in another. So both buttons send data to the only one library.

Maybe anyone has any ideas?

Hi all

I would like to add some buttons next to certain fields that a user can click on which will then display additional information regarding filling in that field. I have added a button control and a text control which is hidden but have no idea what to do so the text appears when the button is clicked.

I am rather new to all this and have no idea about coding so would like a solution I could implement in design if possible.

I need help figuring out how to make a button switch back and forth between two values in a text box. When 1st value is displayed, click button and the 2nd value is displayed. When 2nd value is displayed, click button and 1st value is displayed again and so on.

The value in the text box is determined when a certain combination of radio buttons is checked. There are 2 sets of 2 (Yes/No) radio buttons. If yes and yes are checked then value1 appears in text box. Any other combination (yes/no, no/yes or no/no) then value2 appears in text box.

The idea is the user answers two question to determine the value but they are also given ability to change the answer if they want to. So I'd also like to clear the radio buttons when the switching (change button is clicked) occurs.

I can get the button to clear the radio buttons and I can get the text box value to change once, but on 2nd and subsequent clicks, it doesn't change back again.

For the switch rules on the button I have 2 rules:

Rule 1 - if textBox = value1, set textBox value = value2

Rule 2 - if textBox = value2, set textBox value = value1

For the clear portion of the button I have 1 rule

Rule 3 - if radioButton1 is not blank, or radioButton2 is not blank, set radioButton1 = ", and set radioButton2 value = ""

Any suggestions?

As you mention, you will need SharePoint Workflow here. You do not want nor need multiple submits, nor do you need to email the entire form. My first question is - will the users in the email process (the "next person in the list") need to edit the InfoPath form and put something in it, or are you just routing for let's say approval? Also, SharePoint 2007 or SharePoint 2010? InfoPath 2007 or InfoPath 2010?

You may wish to use an Out of the Box SharePoint Approval workflow, if the users in the list are usually the same or similar. You would either manually kick it off for each InfoPath form, or kick it off upon creation of a new InfoPath form.

You may, instead, wish to use a SharePoint Designer workflow. Gives you much more flexibility as to who to send the emails to (you can get an approver out of a SharePoint list for example, gets a little muddy, but can be done). Designer workflows also allow you to change the email that gets sent rather than just stating that they have an approval task.

Sort of off topic, but a question you asked: In general, if you want to update a current form and not create a new one, create your OWN Submit button.

Create a field called FileName
Create a Form Opening rule, setting that file name to some concatanation of fields and words - example:
concat("Probation Form - ", userName(), " - ", now())

Make sure when you set the File Name you use the Now function in part of the name to capture a date and time - making a pretty much unique file name (can anyone submit 2 different forms in the same second?? :-)
Make sure that you have a CONDITION on setting the file name - only set the file name if it is Blank. (That way, it sets it the very first time the file was opened and not again)

Finally make a Submit Data connection, and use the FileName field as the name of the file. Make sure you check the checkbox to enable overwriting of the form.
Use that Submit action in the Rules of the button that you place on the form. Optional - close the form after submit.

OK so have you thought of having your own "Save" button on the form, that submits to a data connection? That way they won't try to save the form as the same name.

My steps when I do this are as follows:

Create a field named FileName
Create a Form Open rule

IF the FileName field is blank, fill it in with: concat("My Form Name - ", userName(), " - ", now())
That formula takes the name of the file and appends to it the User's name and the current date and time
MAKE SURE the condition says to ONLY set this field value if the FileName field is blank

Create a Submit Data Connection

Use the FileName field as the name of the form to save
Allow Overwrites

Go to Tools --> Form Options (or the Home tab and Advanced Form Options if you're using IP 2010)

Remove the choices for Submit, Save, and Save As on the toolbar.

Add your Button to the form

Set the Rule to run to submit to the data connection that you set up earlier and then close the form (not required, but usually more user friendly)

Hi,

I have a dropdown list in a repeating table in infopath 2007. I am using a webservice to fill the dropdown from SP List. Dropdown list contains 8000 records. Form is getting very slow. some time it takes 60 sec to response.

Please suggest what should i do to prevent this delay.

Send notification e-mail without form attached or included (IP 2007)

Hey everyone,

I have a series of buttons in my form that all use "Rules and Custom Code" with a rule to submit using a data connection over e-mail. However, I only want to send an e-mail notification, not a whole form. I do not have access to VSTA, so is there any other way that I can send an e-mail without the form attached or included in the e-mail? I just want the user to be able to notify specified users.

'ere you go - cobbled this up for you - it is a proof of concept using the method I was describing in my earlier post.

Of course, I'm still stuck in the IP2003 world - you can probably do better with a later version.
