Web Service to a SQL data base

I found out that I could not connect to a SQL database using a browser enabled form and I can't submit to Form services. How can I submit to a SQL database using a browser enabled form. Can someone point me to a step-by-step instruction. Thanks.

    Hi --

You could try this tutorial: http://blogs.technet.com/elenat/archive/2008/05/13/designing-an-infopath-form-that-can-store-data-in-a-database-part1.aspx

Also, we have a free trial of our webservice here, if you'd like to try it: http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/dbxldownload/entry29778.aspx

If you try that tutorial, please let me know how it worked for you -- it looks like an interesting solution.

Do you think this is easy to do? I have 12 fields to submit and 24 fields I want to receive calculated data from an SQl data base to a browser enabled form. Have you ever done something close to this? I won't be able to download anythink thing because I'm creating it for a government system.

I haven't tried it -- but reading through the tutorial looks pretty straightforward -- there are 3 posts total (look in the May Archive to see all three). He uses a udcx for his receive data, but makes it sound like you could use the web service created by an endpoint for your receive as well. I don't think it would be a huge time investment for you to try the tutorial exactly as written and then you could see if you could apply it to your scenario.

Thanks. Question. I have 1000 people that need to fill out this InfoPath form and submit it to a Library and a SQL Database, all the users would not have InfoPath on their client computer.

What is the best option for me. I think I have to upload the form to Form Services, but do the form have to be Web enabled? Thanks for your help.

Under Tools / Form Options / Compatibility  you can select Design a form template that can be opened in a browser or InfoPath and enter the URL of your server. Then, in the task pane, you'll be able to use the Design Checker to look for errors or incompatibilites.
