Integrate Sharepoint list with InfoPath form

    Hello all,

I have a question about InfoPath and Sharepoint list.

I have a Sharepoint list and an InfoPath form.

Some columns in the InfoPath form are Data connected to some coulums in the Sharepoint list.

Meaning, when i open this form, i have a dropdown list that connected to the customer name column in the sharepoint list and when i add a new customer, i have it also in the dropdown list.

    so far so good.

What i am trying to reach is that when i open a new item in the sharepoint list, writing the details (customer name, number and etc') and then pressing on the "save and close" button, a workflow will run that will open the InfoPath form and put the details in the InfoPath form, where it needed.

It is a kind of Data Connection but to a certain item in the sharepoint list and not to a solid column.

If anyone has any ideas what to do, i will be very gratefull.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tal Winter

This is more complex since you would need a routine outside of Infopath on the server which would open InfoPath and perform this update.

I would look at setting up a write to SharePoint from InfoPath.  So that instead of adding the item within SharePoint. Open the InfoPath form and add it and then save it back to the SharePoint list. I think this is an easier method if you want the data in both places.  If you search on "caml" you can find examples of how to do this.

Much of this is easier using a backend database rather than SharePoint. You may want to look at the Database Accelerator. Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer
