    Thanks Jim

Will do this later.  Can you tell form the installstate why my initial installation went wrong?

I am at a loss as to what i did incorrectly in the install that caused it not to work, can you help?

    Thanks again

    Hi Jim

As stated below I have IIS 5.1 so no web service extensions.  I have reinstalled and the database has the required tables, the web service is up and running seemingly very well but I still have the same problem editing the .XSN in the configuration by typing in the URL http://<server>/QDabraWebService/Forms/Expense2/Template.xsn as mentioned in the getting started guide.

I get the file is in use do you want to open a read-only copy instead.  I cannot then overwrite the original after making changes to the read-only version.

Nice to be back with the install again (which stated it installed successfully, so heres hoping)

does anyone know what is going on?

I hope so, thanks in advance

Powered the machine down and back up and now DAT doesn't even open.

We have identified this as a problem where DBXL is installed on a machine that is not a member of a domain.  We are investigating workarounds.

    Brilliant

Thank you Jim and all.  Think I should go out and buy a Win 2003 server to MAKE it work....

Maybe I could claim it on expenses!

    Thanks again

I have faced the exact same problem.

"The file is in use do you want to open a read-only copy instead.  I cannot then overwrite the original after making changes to the read-only version."

The work around for that would be save the ExpenseReport2.xsn file on the local machine, work on it for Task3 (Adding Active Directory look up) and then later update the DAT tool with the file stored locally on your machine.

We have updated the installation guide with instructions on how to do this.
