    Installation Trouble

Hi,  I'm trying to install the trial but I'm having trouble connecting it to the SQL Database.  I don't have a whole lot of experience w/ SQL so I thought it would be best if I just came here and asked for some help.

The current SharePoint 2007 site is setup as a Basic Standalone so it is running SQL 2005 Express.  In the Qdabra Database Acceleration Setup I have specified the following

    Logon

    • predefined (Network Service)

    SQL Server

    • server name = (LOCAL)
    • authentication = windows authentication
    • database = QdabraDBXL

    Domain Security

    • DBXLAdmin = Builtin\Administrators
    • Set Global user permissions = checked
    • Admin group = builtin\administrators

    Forms Viewer (no install)

    Database Enumerator

    • Server Name = (LOCAL)
    • Authentication = windows authentication
    • Default database = QdabraDBXL   <-- is this right?

If I test the connection I get the following error "connection failed.  An error occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.  (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

I double checked and SQL Server is allowing incoming connections.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jason

OK, I solved the Database connection problem, but now the installation errors out just before finishing.  here is the error I get now.

Description: Error Initializing DBXL database.  Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.

EDIT: I found this http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/dbxlsupport/entry20602.aspx, but as soon as the install errors it rolls back the installation and deletes all the files

    Hi Jason,

What are the errors in the Event Viewer log for Qdabra?

Hey Jason, sorry for the problems.

The issue has to do with SharePoint 2007 and the httpmodules.  We typically see problems after install and have a configuration change to accomodate but I have not seen this before.  I am checking to see what can be done with an issue preventing install.

We will have an answer for you shortly.

If you have SQL Express, the server name will be (LOCAL)\SQLEXPRESS

    Re: Installation Trouble

If it is the <httpModules> section issue, you can apply the change to the web.config before the install completes.  After the tabbed dialog pops up prompting to enter logon informatino, go to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\virtualdirectories\80\QdabraWebService\ and edit the web.config (the directory may be slightly different, but you should find it under there).   Then complete the install.  I haven't seen this issue come up during install, but that may be the problem.

Another thing to try is to do an IISRESET just before install.  Don't access the sharepoint site until you have completed the install.  The sharepoint assemblies causing the problem may not have gotten loaded then.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I really appreciate it.

I went ahead and tried to modify the web.config file mid-install but it had no effect, it still errored out with the same message.  I also tried doing the IISRESET but no luck there either.

    Re: Installation Trouble

The other thought some of us had was to stop SharePoint services, run the install, update the web config, restart SharePoint.

Also have you looked in event viewer at the Qdabra Errors?

There might be some clues there.
