    InfoPath 2013 - Visual Studio 2012

Which version of Visual studio 2012 (Express/standard/pro/ultimate) do I need if I want to write custom code in InfoPath 2013 forms?

In 2010 you only needed " Visual Studio Tools for Applications".

I have installed "Visual Studio 2012 Express" and "Microsoft Visual Studio tools for applications 2012" but I still get an error when I press CodeEditor in InfoPath 2013 saying thant i need to install

Unfortunately, I think you need VS 2012 - that's what I'm using with IP 2013.

My company is migrating to Office 2016 from Office 2010. We will be using InfoPath 2013. While we can get VSTA 2012, we don't have VS 2012. I've installed VS 2017 which has InfoPath 2013 VSTO add-ins for C# and VB. However, I can't find the steps or instructions on creating a new form template with code or modifying an existing form template with code. Anyone out there that has overcome this challenge?

As a follow-up... I was able to get VSTA2012 in InfoPath 2013 working with VS2012. IP2013 was added as a standalone to Office 2010. However, on another pc I was unable to get VSTA2012 in InfoPath 2013 working with VS2012. In this scenario I was using InfoPath 2013 as a standalone install to Office 2016. I received the following error: InfoPath has encountered an error. The operation failed. Maybe because Office 2016 doesn't include InfoPath where Office 2010 did?
