Issue with Published Infopath Form after adding promoted property field

Hi. I have a Infopath 2010 form which I am publishing to SharePoint 2007 site and accessing via browser based form. I have about 100 fields being published from the form into a sharepoint list without issues. Recently I added some new fields on the form but after adding the fields using property promotion to push into the list I receive an error when trying to save any existing or new forms. The form error states that the form cannot be saved because of an error, which I've not been able to trace. When i revert back to the form without the fields being promoted to the sharepoint list (but still in the form), i can save the form without issues. I need to save them into the list. All field are non-valided, non required text fields with not rules. Below is a list of the field names. Coud this be the issue?

    C1

    C2

    C3

    C4

    C5

    C6

    C7

    C8

    C8_other

    Any ideas?

It is impossible to promote (or unpromote) fields to sharepoint list and there is no much sense since infopath sharepoint list form fields are directly associated with sharepoint list fields.

Don't you  you publish onto sharepoint library but write sharepint list instead?

It is not clear whether you are having problems while saving XSN form template or XML data form file
    Can you clarify it?

Perhaps I used the wrong terms. My problem occured after I added these field to the form with goal of adding their content back to SharePoint library so that I could later extract the content from a collection of forms in the library. Up until now when i added new field and published them I had no problem. Even now when I promote these fields and add them to the library, it cause a form error when I try to save the form from within Infopath Form Services after I publish the form. It is related to these fields as when I revert back to a previous form and published with promoting these fields (exist only in form) all is ok.

So you changed XSN template in Infopath Designer 2010 and published it to a sharepoint library?

Now you are having the error while saving the XML data form XML files created on the basis of the previous XSN form template ?

Do you have problems to create new data form XML files in library on the basis of new XSN form template?

You seem to use the same terms for quite distinct entities.
Can you avoid the term "form" and use explicitly ".XML file form" and ".XSN form template" instead?

Re: Issue with Published Infopath Form after adding promoted property field

Thank you for assisting. Let me try to be more clear.

The new fields have been added to the XSN template and when I use propoerty promotion then publish the XSN all seems ok until, i create create a new document XML (via IPFS browser) from the XSN template then error occurs when I try to save the XML back into the sharepoint. If I don't property promote the fields--- the XML can be saved without problem saving the new content in the XML. The error only occurs after promoting the fields. In total it is about 30 new text fields, none required. They all have names like A1, A2 . . . A8, B1, B2 . . . ., C1, C2, etc.

Could the names of the fields be an issue?

I'd be surprised if the field names are causing the issue. I guess what I'd do at this point is try adding them back a few at a time, publish and test in between adds.

Sorry, I was tired while responfing  yesterday

There seems to be limits on number of fields in sharepoint which tells about

    • 64 Single line of text and Choice (drop-down menu or radio buttons)
    • 31 Multiple lines of text and Choice (check boxes (allow multiple sections))
    • 32 Number and currency
    • 32 Hyperlink
    • 16 Date and time
    • 16 Lookup
    • 16 Yes/No
    • 8 Calculated

Also there is a  total size limit  of content in all fields

That link is about sharepoint list but I do not think it is much different for libraries and I recall I've read that they are the same for lists and libraries

Re: Issue with Published Infopath Form after adding promoted property field

    Hi Hillary -

I have since tried to add one field at a time (there are about 25 fields named C1, C2.... E11 and eventually found a point when the form error occurred after publishing when opening the form and trying to save. You are familiar with this form. If I take the problematic fields out, then republish then all is OK, form can successfully save. At a loss here.
