    iPad and INFOPath

Evening all, my wonderful Wife has bought me the iPad 2. Can anyone advise If they have managed to get INFOPath working with the iPad? I know there are iPad apps out there but I don't want to pay the earth to complete forms on it. NWR

Hi Rigout and congrats on your iPad2 gift. I bought my wife one earlier in the year and it has probably succeeded in wasting a good 500 hours of her time by now...

iPad uses Safari browser and that browser can be used to access InfoPath forms that reside in a SharePoint library or list. SharePoint has a special service called the InfoPath Forms Service which will display the forms in the browser. We have many consulting customers that use iPads to fill out forms. To design the forms, you'll need InfoPath Designer and you'll need windows for that, but for filling out forms, you should be able to do it from an iPad.

Hi Patrick, Thank you for your reply, can you advise what type of form I should use to be able to use it on the iPad. I understand that there is two ways I can use the iPad, 1 through the Sarfari Browser and the 2nd through an iPad application. There are two applications one called formtominus and the other shareplus. I understand that are limitations with browser forms and there could be times when I have no Internet connection so would need to complete the forms off line. NWR

Look into http://www.formotus.com/products-mobile-business-forms/ if you dont mind paying for getting your form to be more application type than what the browser offers.. I believe you will be able to integrate any of your infopath solutions to the mobile platform with their product.

For offline forms, Tom's link to Formotus is the only option right now. We've worked with them before and they have a good product.

Thanks Patrick, we appreciate the recommendation! For others who might be interested, I'd mention that we run on Android as well as iOS.

We do not have the Enterprise version which I think is required to run InfoPath forms service?  Is it possible to use infopath on an iPad without having InfoPath forms service running?  Thanks!
